Security & Terrorism Positions and Views
Homeland Security, a General Statement The tragic events of September 11 placed our nation in uncharted territory, and we now face new challenges on all fronts. Our civilian authorities must devise ways to utilize their capabilities in the most efficient manner. They must be able to respond to whatever may confront us in the future. This includes training for the unexpected and the unknown and ensuring that the citizens of our nation understand what to do in the midst of an emergency. I am proud to sit on the Senate Governmental Affairs Committee and work with the Department of Homeland Security to ensure our federal state and local governments are well prepared for all that they might face.
